FUNERAL DIRECTORS CONVENTION & EXPO 2018
This Fall has been a busy season for Mazur & Associates CPAs and Business Advisors, PC.
In late September, Steve Mazur, CPA, CGMA presented a one-credit CEU program to approximately 150 licensees at Harrah’s Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The topic was “Using a Budget to Determine How to Charge for your Services”. Steve and staff poured countless hours into researching the trends within the funeral business, which culminated into very valuable guidance for funeral home owners. The presentations were held on September 25th and 27th. Steve Mazur waived his honorarium for this speaking engagement, requesting that the payments be contributed to the New Jersey Funeral Directors Educational Foundation.
Also during this annual convention and trade show, Steve Mazur and Linda Matticola were exhibitors in the Mazur & Associates booth and were visited by many potential clients. Funeral Directors and Funeral Home owners from the northeast attended this convention, the largest annual convention sponsored by any state organization.
It was a particularly memorable convention, as it represented the 25th straight year that Mazur & Associates has exhibited at this Atlantic City trade show. Mazur & Associates is well respected among New Jersey Funeral Directors, playing a role in many funeral home’s growth, expansion, and success. In his 29 plus years in the field, Steve has assisted funeral directors in funeral home purchase, offering management advisory services to ensure higher profitability, and when a funeral director is seeking retirement, helping to structure a succession plan to the next generation, or advising the owner on attaining the optimal sales price for transfers to a third party.
On Wednesday, November 6th, Mazur & Associates was proud to be the exclusive sponsor of the OSHA seminar at Mercer County Community College.
Approximately 75 licensees attended this two credit seminar. Distributed at the CEU event were hard of copies Steve’s Power Point presentation. As is his habit, Steve dispensed his knowledge to clients and non-clients alike, and is regarded as the premier resource to New Jersey Funeral Homes and their owners. “I have such a passion for my job with funeral professionals. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing a client transform his funeral home business from a fledging operation to an organization that serves its community well and generates a good living for its owners”.
